Teacher's Corner Media Services Funny lores on technology for teaching and learning
I added a "Subscribe in Democracy" button in the sidebar for your convenience. Enjoy!
Hi there!
I am currently working on a screencasts on DEVONthink
from
DEVONtechnologies
again, so
the next lesson on Teacher's Corner will be covering
this application. Look forward to seeing it in the
middle of the next week.
Welcome to the
second episode of the Teacher's Corner Screencast.
Teacher's Corner is a website created by a teacher
(myself) for other teachers, for students and for
everyone willing to learn. It provides you with
interesting, captivating and sometimes entertaining
lessons, tutorials and fully fledged courses on software,
the internet and technology in general. I addition to
that, another section of this website will offer short
lessons snippets on learning English in the future.
In this
episode I introduce you to LEO, an online dictionary that
translates between German and English, German and French,
and German and Spanish. You'll learn everything you need
to know on how to handle LEO's web interface. Also, I'll
cover several ways of integrating LEO with your favorite
browser and with LaunchBar, a multi purpose utility for
the Macintosh.
Known issues:
There are some
minor flaws in this show. None of them is a showstopper,
so I chose to publish the show anyway:
– Minor language flaws: If you find them: Please
ignore them. If not: Never mind.
– Minor artifacts while recording. I am not quite
sure why they are there, since they don't show up in the
source clips I recorded with SnapZ Pro. Maybe Final Cut
Pro has some compatibility issues with those source
clips' format. I definitely have to look at this for the
next show.
– Although the sound quality has been improved
considerably compared to previous show, it is not perfect
yet. The volume changes slightly from time to time.

Maybe you also consider watching a cool screencast on
LaunchBar. If so, go to Screencasts

I enhanced the website a little. I updated the Visual Helpdesk section and rearranged the menu bar. There are still many improvements to be done.
Welcome to the
very first episode of the Teacher's Corner Screencast.

In this episode I introduce you to Journler, a journaling
application. Journler can store, organize and find almost
any kind of information in an extremely intuitive and yet
very powerful way. This is what makes it so useful for
teachers and learners alike. You will learn how to:
– input and import information and files
– organize data by creating folders and smart
folders
– work with multimedia elements
– find information stored in Journler
Known issues:
There have been some technical problems throughout the
production of the show:
– On some parts of the movie, the mouse pointer
looks weird. This is due to my recording application,
SnapZ Pro from Ambrosia Software. The app wasn't 100%
compatible with my Intel Mac at the time of the
recording.
– In one section of the movie I demonstrate the
recording features of Journler. However, when playing
back the recordings there is no sound. This is, again,
due to SnapZ Pro. Both issues have been resolved by
Ambrosia Software by now and won't be an issue in future
recordings.
– On some sections of the movie the sound quality
isn't perfect. Again, this problem has been resolved by
now and won't be an issue in future episode.
